"Matters of the Heart"

The heart, strong yet sensitive.

Powerful enough to sustain life yet fragile enough to be plagued by life.

What does one do when the heart wants what it wants but delay is all it gets. How does one cope when the heart grows weary becoming sick of hope deferred.

There's a verse that says faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But when the heart's lifeline is faith and faith grows weak what hope is left for one to perceive? When will the evidence become apparent, this is a need to know before the heart looses its inherent, ability to sustain.

The heart is the portal by which one receives—receives the seed to survive and thrive in this thing we call life. Jesus, in his own words, describes four types of heart that one can possess. Now, it's time to reflect: What heart do you have?

Do you have a way-side heart, your ears heard what was needed for nourishment of the soul but instead of taking root it became snuffed out by Satan.

Or

Do you have a stony heart, you were glad to receive the nourishment for your soul but as soon as affliction made itself known, you abandoned the very thing that could help you stand firm

Or

Do you have a thorny heart, you received the nourishment for your soul, embracing its offer but once your heart began to wonder, what was once gladly received began to sunder

it's time to reflect: What heart do you have?

The heart, the one that is so desired is the heart made of flesh, a good ground. Hear what's needed, embrace its nourishment, and thus able to produce an overflow of what started as a little seed now multiplied beyond the evidence unseen.

See, If could be transparent the heart I once possessed was the heart made of flesh. But after years of hope being deferred my heart grew weary turning into heart made of thorns. The lust of other things became my focus, and just like Peter on the boat instead of focusing on Jesus I became blinded by what surrounded me.

What surrounded me was not looking like the things I desired, prayed, and hoped for. Now this became my focus, and in losing focus on what mattered I began to drown under dreams shattered.

But wait i don't have to drown, I can grab a hold of the outstretched hand of Jesus Christ. Holding on to his embrace, I can trust that the way he is leading is so my heart is sustained by his grace.

The heart, strong yet sensitive and when coupled with the power that flows from the cross the heart has no other choice but to remain, remain in the state of receiving all the good that comes with believing that God is in control.
